From the original Legend of Zelda to Twilight Princess, The Legend of Zelda Series has been a big hit all over the world but I can't help but wonder is it the end of its days on the Nintendo consoles? What is there left to do with the Zelda seris besides sequals to the DS and Gameboy Advanced games? Also on another note after Twilight Princess' great sucess how can they top it? There would be no way to make another Zelda game and be original because just about everything you can do with the Zelda series has been done while staying close to home.
There are those who have been with this series for a long time and are so set in the way the games were made that would rant on and on if Nintendo moved away from the traditional Zelda gameplay. I remmeber when Wind Waker came out and I heard quite a few people complain about it because it was so off-beat from how the games were before. I myself enjoyed the new cartoon look and the humor they added to it. Now I'm thinking there are only a few things left to do with the Zelda seris:
1) Timeline shift - Move the whole Zelda world to a more modern time not exactly today modern but maybe to about the 17-1800s that way the timeline would be right to give Link a gun. I myself do not like that idea. I belive Link should stick to his arrows.
2) Massive Overhaul of the Zelda World - Keep Link and the same basic characters but remake the whole Zelda world. No more Gorons, Zoras, or Deku Shrubs. No more Hyrule. No more Ganon Just make a whole new Zelda world completly unique from any previous one. This idea I kinda like though it would be hard to adjust to it. Just as long as they kept the same basic characters I could get used to it.
3) The Final Fantasy Approach - Remake the whole thing. New Characters New places but stay in the same basic timeline. No more Hyrule, No More Link, No more Zelda. A whole new hero a whole new style. Now this idea I have no idea how I would react. I doubt many of the long time Zelda fans would appreciate such a massive change.
Anyway those are my thoughts on the subject. I welcome any and all comments you might have on the subject.
